The time has finally come for the children to make their return to school, while it’s all a little different for them this year, one thing that hasn’t changed is how we do the school run. Check your tyres

Child locks
Do you have a toddler on board that likes to play with the door handles, or maybe you have a young child that is so excited to be heading back to school that they try to jump out of the car before you come to a complete stop? If you don’t already, remember to engage your child locks. All you have to do is open the rear door you want to lock and check down the side of the door where you can see a locking device, or on more modern cars, you can find a child lock feature on the dashboard.

Using the correct child car seats is not only important for the school run, but also for any journey. In the UK, children must use a child car seat until they’re 12 years old or 135 centimetres tall, depending on which one comes first. The seat you choose will all depend on the child’s height and weight. The school runs are the busiest times of the day with a lot of congestion and potential for accidents, so make sure everyone in your vehicle is safe and abiding by the law.
Road Safety
The school run is the perfect time to be teaching your young children about road safety so they know how exactly to behave outside the vehicle with moving traffic. Setting a good example from your driving seat is key. As well as this, always park in a safe and legal space, preferably one a few metres away to help ease congestion.
By walking a few metres to school, you can teach children how to cross the road, looking left and right and by teaching them this now, they will use the road sensibly.
